RESEARCH  ACTIVITIES:

Senior Research Thesis:  Subcloning and Characterization of Repeat Units found in the Non‑ Transcributed Spacer Region of Calliphora Erythrocephla, completed under the direction of Dr. KM Beckingham, Ph.D.  Department of Biochemistry, Rice University, during 1982.

As a research associate, he investigated steroid biochemistry and molecular genetics of the growth and development of Calliphora Erythrocephla, under the direction of Drs. Schropher and Beckingham, Department of Biochemistry, Rice University from 1982 through 1983.

While attending medical school and during residency, he investigated the effects of manipulations of polyamine biochemistry on the growth and development of colon and pancreatic cancer in vitro and in vivo.  Techniques included tissue culture, animal studies, and molecular biology.  Completed under the direction of Dr. Courtney M. Townsend, Jr., M.D.  Department of Surgery, University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, TX.

HONORS AND AWARDS:
